About Dr. Maria Bakht
Dr. Maria Bakht received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, which was accredited by the American Psychological Association when she graduated.
Dr. Maria has been in the field for over 20 years. She completed her APA accredited predoctoral internship at Grand Valley State University’s Counseling and Career Center in Allendale, MI. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Center For Victims of Torture in Minneapolis, MN. Afterwards, she headed to WA to work at Western Washington University’s Counseling Center in Bellingham for two years. Dr. Maria would later join Discovery Counseling Associates: a group of independent practitioners. She has been in private practice since 2008 and most recently moved to Texas where she formed Valiant Psychology, PLLC.
Her areas of clinical work experience and counseling include coping with medical/health challenges, posttraumatic stress disorder, family dynamics, stress, depression, postpartum depression, stress management, multicultural concerns, chronic pain and fatigue, anxiety, internet addiction, social anxiety, relationship issues, and spiritual concerns to name a few. Dr. Maria Bakht is licensed as a psychologist in the states of Texas (#38798) and Washington (#PY00003664). She also holds a special licensure that allows her to practice virtually in multiple other states via Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT #8320)). Dr. Maria has been an active speaker on a number of topics, but she absolutely loves speaking for faith based groups. She makes a lot of mistakes with her baking experiments. One of her great joys in life is pranking her husband, but he’s pretty good at getting back at her!
